The Carretera Austral has many spectacular vistas to enjoy. Visitors to Terrazas del Palena and Paul and Konomi's Garden can enjoy a very special view of Melimoyu, a 2400 meter volcano, and the Palena River valley and it's ancient forests.

A gravel road runs alongside the river to the coastal village of Raul Marin Balmaceda offering more views of the spectacular mountain and the valley. A two hour drive will give you a taste of the vast forests and nature of our region and bring you to the village where miles of sandy beaches await.
For those with more time and an adventurous spirit kayaking and rafting trips down the Palena river provide an alternative way to experience what the Carretera Austral and the Austral Garden Route have to offer.
